Each Council has specific tree management guidelines also called a Tree Preservation Order (TPO).
The TPO is intended to secure the amenity of trees, within the local area. Some trees are exempt from the TPO and can be removed without consent.
For trees preserved in the TPO, any tree work will require written consent from council.
Applying for consent, involve a written application form and a fee to council.
At this stage, council may advise you to provide an arborist report to accompany the removal of trees or a development application.
